ACT Policing is asking anyone who saw a suspicious man in the Hume area early this morning (Sunday, November 4) to contact Crime Stoppers.
Around 12.25am a man was driving his car Southbound on the Monaro Highway, he had just passed the intersection of the Monaro Highway and Lanyon Drive when a man stepped out from the tree line and flagged him down.
After he pulled his car over to the side of the road the offender allegedly approached the victim’s car and produced a handgun, demanding the man’s wallet.
The offender removed a small sum of cash from the wallet before striking the man in the side of the head twice. At this point the offender stepped away from the car and the victim drove away from the area and contacted police.
The offender is described as African in appearance, 183cm (6’) tall, in his mid-twenties with a skinny build. He was wearing a short sleeved dark shirt with a wave motif and blue jeans.
Police are urging anyone who saw a man matching the above description in the Hume area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the website www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
