Opinions please!
Won’t be too bad if other parts of our town are mentioned but I am really interested in the city.

It’s always appreciated when someone sides with my desires.
Does that mean chips? Or salad?
I assume, as we’re talking pizza, that the sides would be garlic bread? Hahaha!
Unless of course you’re buying from a mass-produced store like Pizza hut or Dominos. Then the side would be something odd like cheese-injected chicken bits! 🙂

Where’s the love for That Pizza Place? I personally side with Johnboy and his review (and cavemanesque desires) when it comes to pizza and the Times Square really does it for me.
That and the 18″ whole pizza you can buy will easily feed a small group by itself – even if it won’t fit in most people’s oven.
It’s always appreciated when someone sides with my desires.
I also recommend Gusto Braddon as pretentious they may be! the “we are doing you the favor attitude ” they do a good alternative its lighter to Crust and closer than Atrte
If I can tempt you to travel just a few kilometers, Benthan Street Pizza at the Yarralumla shops is pretty bloody good (charge like a wounded bull but I think the quality is excellent).

Try Ostani at The Realm in Barton.
Very nice pizzas. Virtually as good as what you get in Italy. You reckon? I’ve had crap pizza there at Ostani – several times, so I didn’t fluke a bad one (it’s convenient by day) – but I order anything BUT pizza now. All dough, barely any topping ingredients (even by classic italian pizza standards), and a ridiculous wait each time.
“barely any topping ingredients”.
Maybe you’d be better off with Dominos.
Ostani use slightly more toppings than they should, but it’s not too far away from a proper pizza. I have a pizza there about once a week. Never had a dud one, (apart from the slight excess of toppings).
The crust is about the right thin-ness and cooked nice and hot so it’s crispy without being too hard.
This one time, I had to pay an extra $5 for a pizza – ruined my year apparently

P.S- Don’t got to Zefferelli’s whatever you do.
Yep – steer clear of the Zeffirelli thieves. Oh, and besides being thieves, their kitchen is filthy.

We like Pizza Gusto in Lonsdale Street, they are only open from 5.30 Wed thru Saturday but their wood fired pizzas are great.
Pizza Gusto is my current favourite near the city too.

Debacle in Lonsdale st Braddon, followed by Pizza Gusto across the road. APK is okay, it’s been a while since I was last there though.
If you’re willing to put up with the service. Debacle is the only time I have ever actually had a problem with any waitress anywhere. We went for a work lunch there, she brought out all of the meals except for one, figured that she’d bring the next out last. When she came out empty handed and went to serve another table we waived her over and asked politely if the Chicken was still on it’s way out. She responded with an extremely abrupt “Well I only have two bloody hands” and stalked off.

Yeah, I can second Debacle as having decent pizza. While I’m at it, I’ll recommend it as a place to get pissed in broad daylight.

Firestone in Dickson makes some pretty kick-ass pizza. I know it’s not exactly the city, but assuming you’re driving it’s only 5 minutes away, and if you’re one of the poor few who rely on ACTION then Civic to Dickson is probably the best serviced route in the city.
Firestone is good except I recall getting in an argument with my friends after getting ripped off in the pizza department.

Oh dear! I think, just think, I can agree with Henry BG…
But tragically, I’ve never been to Italy (outside Rome airport). So what would I know?
Poco, I suppose.
APK- No..3 strikes and they are out
Zeferellis- No. used to be good value, not any more.
Firestone- ohh yeah…

I know that this is not apropos your question, but as an aside the population centre of Canberra is not exactly in Civic, it is actually somewhere near the edge of LBG in Yarralumla. As Gungahlin relentlessly expands (and Banks/Gordon contract) the population centre is marching northwards at a rate of about half a metre a day.
I get your point though, we often refer to Civic as Canberra’s centre.
