ACT Policing has charged a woman with several offences after a series of incidents in Hughes yesterday afternoon (Saturday, November 17).
Police will allege that around 2pm the 25-year-old Hughes woman damaged property in Kitchener Street before walking to the nearby Caltex Service Station.
At the service station, she made threats to several people, grabbed one of the fuel bowsers, damaged a vehicle and attempted to use a cigarette lighter to set fire to some spilled petrol on the forecourt.
Two officers from Woden Patrol, who had been called to the location after the earlier property damage, quickly took the woman into custody and conveyed her to the ACT Watch House.
She has been charged with two counts of property damage, plus another for the arson threat, with further charges likely. She will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, November 19).
Police are urging anyone who was at the Hughes Caltex Service Station at the time of the incident yesterday and has not yet spoken to police, including one person in a blue-coloured sedan who was confronted by the woman next to one of the bowsers and drove off, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au
