Three teenagers have been charged after they allegedly drew Nazi symbols and made written references to Adolf Hitler inside the Tuggeranong Mall.
Police were called to a bathroom at the South.Point shopping centre after graffiti depicting prohibited Nazi symbols was discovered on the evening of 19 June 2025, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.
The officers found 18 Nazi Hakenkreuz symbols, which are more commonly known as Nazi swastikas, and three references to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler drawn on the bathroom walls.
Following an investigation, police charged a 16-year-old boy, 17-year-old girl and 18-year-old woman with the offence of causing a Nazi symbol to be displayed.
This is a Commonwealth charge that carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment.
In addition, the two female defendants were also charged with trespass and defacing public property. These two faced the ACT Children’s Court on Monday (11 August), as the 18-year-old was aged 17 at the time of her alleged offending.
The boy is expected to face the ACT Childrens Court on 3 November.
“The display of prohibited symbols is an offence and will not be tolerated by ACT Policing,” the police spokesperson said.
“Anyone in the community with information about the display of prohibited symbols is encouraged to make a report to police.”
