Lakeside at 5 is a popular after work program of local live jazz. Come and relax by Lake Tuggeranong with a glass of wine and live music by some of Canberra’s most treasured jazz artists.
For the September Lakeside at 5 event, In2Deep will perform at Tuggeranong Arts Centre. Comprising of Michael Dooley and Rachel McNally (formerly Thorne), they perform mostly original songs that pay homage to the jazz tradition of the Great American songbook, from upbeat swinging numbers, latin flavoured bossanovas and sambas, to sultry ballads.
Mike is a brilliant composer and musician, who has composed an enormous amount of great works and has gained international success winning various awards for his cinematic score writing. He was chosen as Citynews Canberra’s artist of the year in 2019 for his work in composition across multiple genres.
Former lead singer of the Duntroon military band, Rachel loves singing various styles of music, and has performed in many corporate and community bands over the years. She now enjoys the role of music director for the Yass Community carols.
Together, they have been performing for over 12 years in the ACT and surrounding regions and have produced 3 original jazz albums, “Just For the Heaven of it“, “A Good Man is hard to Find“, and “One Spring Morning” which won a Canberra Critic Circle Award for the highly polished album launch. They have performed many times at regional music festivals and local venues. They have also worked on many other projects together, such as Rachel’s solo album “Identity” and recently a more gospel flavoured offering “Water of Life”.
