A man died after a vicious and violent attack on the NSW South Coast, a prosecutor alleged when one of the five people arrested over his death faced court.

Litisha Mundy, 19, Kody Lloyd, 29, Dion Lloyd, 32, Benjamin Keith Robinson, 34, and Serkan Hosoglu, 48, have all been charged with murder over the death of 43-year-old Gordon Kessey in Bega on 6 October, 2025.

Police were called to a park in East Street around 2 o’clock that morning when they found Mr Kessey suffering from stab wounds. While paramedics tried to provide assistance, he died at the scene.

A second man, 45, also suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital. He has since been released.

Police began an in-depth investigation under Strike Force Nakstone, seizing vehicles, a knife and electronic devices as well as searching the nearby Glebe Wetlands.

Then, earlier this week, following information from the public, police divers searched a private property and the wetlands.

“Items were recovered at the first location and were seized for forensic examination,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

On Thursday (20 November), four of the co-defendants were arrested — Ms Mundy, Kody, Dion and Mr Robinson — and each of them was charged with murder.

Ms Mundy was the only one of these four Bega Valley residents to apply for bail on Friday (21 November).

“This was a vicious, violent attack in the middle of the street and the backyard of someone’s home,” the police prosecutor, Sergeant Chris Manning, told the court.

Ms Mundy’s lawyer, Stewart Holt, said she had no criminal history and didn’t have to return to Bega if released from custody as she could stay with family in Goulburn. She could reside under a curfew and only leave the home in the company of her family, he said.

Magistrate Rosheehan O’Meagher accepted Ms Mundy was young and would be vulnerable in custody, noting it would also be her first time behind bars.

But she also said Ms Mundy was alleged to have been a willing participant in the melee and violence that night, and the prosecution appeared to have a strong case against each of the four co-accused.

The magistrate noted that, as it was a murder case, it could take years to finalise before the courts.

Bail was refused for each of these four co-defendants and they were all remanded in custody. They will next appear on 19 January, 2026, at Batemans Bay Local Court.

Meanwhile, following further inquiries, Mr Hosoglu was arrested at a hospital in Bega on Sunday (23 November) before he was also charged with murder.

He faced court on Monday (24 November) to apply for bail and his lawyer, Andrew Herring, said his client denied involvement in the incident and claimed he was at home during the alleged murder.

“He says that he’s being used as a scapegoat,” Mr Herring said.

Mr Herring put forward a series of proposed bail conditions that would see his client reside under “almost a house arrest curfew” and report daily to a nearby police station.

However, Sergeant Manning claimed Mr Hosoglu had shown “unprecedented violence” during the alleged offending.

“There is an inevitability of a full-time custodial sentence, particularly given his involvement … he is a willing and able participant within these matters,” he said.

Magistrate O’Meagher refused bail, describing the allegations as a “violent example” of murder.

“He’s been charged with the most serious offence in a criminal calendar … Based on the material I have before me today, it appears to be a strong prosecution case and it includes a film from a witness,” she said.

Mr Hosoglu was also scheduled to face court on 19 January.
