Charlie’s probably the most social dog you’ll ever meet. Photo: RSPCA ACT.
Dog of the week: Charlie
Charlie is one of the most adoptable (and pretty) dogs you’ll meet. She is an Akita breed. She was recently adopted and returned for the precise opposite reason that some other dogs are returned.
While some adopted dogs react poorly to other animals, Charlie is the opposite. She went to a home as the only pet and was only interested in playing with the neighbour’s dog!
So here it is: Charlie will make a terrific pet, and she MUST have the company of other pets. She’s lived with children, cats and dogs, so she’s incredibly social!
Adding to this is her wonderful fur coat and her instant “tilt head” look when you say hello; we’re guessing she’ll be adopted again soon. Be quick if you’re interested.

Dog of the Week: Herbie
A completely different adoptable dog to Charlie, introducing Herbie the staffy. He’s a favourite of ours because he’s so happy and so excited to see us, everyday no matter what. He really lifts the mood.
Herbie has been with us for nearly 200 days, and it’s his very excitable and happy nature that has most likely dissuaded potential adopters.
Herbie has made great strides, though. He’s learned good obedience tricks (when walking, he will wait for you to give the ‘ok’ before he dives into a puddle). He likes to learn, but he’ll need a patient owner.
He has that enormous, gorgeous staffy smile and will love you more than you thought possible. If you have experience with staffy breeds, come and meet Herbie. He deserves a life of love.
Pawnotes: Earlier this week, our vet clinic desexed 27 kittens in just one day. Keep an eye out at Petbarn stores and at our shelter.
Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
