There have been 84.6 million views of VisitCanberra’s content on social media site Instagram this year, with the images showcasing the beauty of Canberra to the world.
From snowy landscapes to vibrant festivals and local favourites, millions of people have connected with content that celebrates what locals already know — Canberra is a city that surprises and delights.
An ACT Government spokesperson said the 84.6 million views reflected the city’s growing profile as a destination worth exploring.
“These posts don’t just look good — they inspire people to plan a visit, explore neighbourhoods and enjoy Canberra’s year-round events,” the spokesperson said.
Major events continued to dominate audience engagement throughout the year, with highlights
including FLIGHT Canberra, the Canberra Balloon Spectacular, Skyfire and the Enlighten Festival.
“These iconic celebrations captured the imagination of locals and visitors alike, driving strong views across platforms and reinforcing Canberra’s reputation as an events destination,” the spokesperson said.
Posts featuring snowfall and dramatic weather sparked thousands of shares and comments, while local discoveries — from new bars to dining hotspots — drove high save rates, with Bar Outro’s reel alone shared more than 5100 times.
Also, wildlife encounters, especially with kangaroos and wombats, remained irresistible, and seasonal visuals such as wisteria blooms, autumn colours, and sunflower fields continued to enchant audiences, showcasing the natural beauty that makes Canberra unique.
These are the top-five most-viewed posts on the Instagram account for @VisitCanberra in 2025:
- FLIGHT Canberra at Lake Burley Griffin clocked up almost half a million views.
- Snow-covered Canberra from @air.down received just under 300,000 views and almost 6000 shares.
- Canberra Balloon Spectacular’s views from above attracted 247,900 views.
- Canberra ranking as the best city in the world for quality of life reached more than 215,000 views.
- Anzac Day reflections featuring the Australian War Memorial were viewed just under 200,000 times.
