A security camera captured the punch thrown during an alleged attack in Canberra’s popular Hopscotch bar, which knocked a man to the floor.

Police are now seeking the public’s help to find a man and a woman depicted in footage from the night.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said a man allegedly assaulted another man inside the bar on Lonsdale Street, Braddon, at around 2:20 am on 7 December 2025.

CCTV shows one man punching someone, knocking them to the ground. The man appears to throw something at his alleged victim, then walks off, but is followed by a different person before they get into a short scuffle.

Police said the alleged attacker then fled the venue, took off his shirt and ran north along Lonsdale Street.

He had been accompanied by a woman, wearing a white t-shirt and black leggings, who also left the bar shortly after the incident.

“Police believe the man and woman depicted in the video were involved in the incident and would like to speak to them,” the police spokesperson said.
