A man from Queanbeyan is accused of making online threats to two federal parliamentarians.
The Australian Federal Police’s National Security Investigations (NSI) team began looking into the allegations in January 2026 after being told of multiple allegedly threatening posts on social media.
“The posts contained threatening remarks towards two federal parliamentarians,” a police spokesperson alleged.
The investigation led to a police raid on a home in Queanbeyan on Wednesday (18 February), during which they seized various items, including electronic devices.
The NSI team then served a court attendance notice on a 51-year-old Queanbeyan man for one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.
This charge carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment.
The man is scheduled to face the Queanbeyan Local Court on 13 April.
