Dog of the Week: Roxy

Roxy has appeared as Pet of the Week once before, not because of her long stay at our shelter (245 days) but because she’s a terrific dog. So why is she still here, you ask?

She doesn’t like other dogs (although she befriended a dog here named ‘Boof’, so this is not a rule set in stone), and consequently, if a dog walks past, she will try to jump over a fence.

They are the reasons. But the list of reasons why SHE SHOULD already have a permanent home is much, much longer. She’s incredibly friendly. She is clever and obedient. She loves people and is gentle. On a lead, she walks wonderfully. She’s everything that you could ever want in a dog.

Roxy’s perfect home is out there; of this, we are certain. Please spread the word!

Regina

Bird of the Week: Regina

Regina, the Indian Ringneck, is desperate to find her new roommate. Formerly and mistakenly known as Reggie, she’s a gorgeous-looking bird who will light up your lounge room.

Regina is not traditionally hand tame, but she loves receiving treats. Our team say she can get a bit stroppy if she misses out on her morning almond!

Her perfect home would be like a roommate. Someone who perhaps works from home and can sit with her. She loves company and really is a good sidekick.

She’s not very noisy when left alone, sometimes letting out a loud squawk if she thinks it should be time for a treat. She is not fond of other birds (but this could change in time), so if you want your own little, pretty friend, Regina may be the perfect pet for you.

Pawnotes: Last week’s star cat, Kenneth, proved popular and was quickly adopted. There are plenty of cats awaiting their new homes at the shelter now. Saturdays are our busiest, so it’s a good idea to arrive early if you want to adopt.

Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
