ACT Fire & Rescue are investigating a smell of smoke at a guest room at the East Hotel, Giles Street, Kingston.

Approximately 60 guests have been evacuated as a precaution whilst crews search for the cause of smoke from a room on level two of the five storey building.

Three fire pumpers on scene along with the Breathing Aparatus Van, the Bronto Skylift Hydraulic Platform and a Command Officer.

Crews were alerted following an Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) at 8.55pm and confirmed by night staff that the smoke was in the room.
