Adam Bowhay back behind bars

Word is coming in that murderer on the run escaped from Cooma Adam Bowhay is back in custody.


UPDATE: NSW Police Media have a report:

Police in the Snowy Region have recaptured a convicted murderer who escaped while on work release from Cooma Correctional Centre earlier this week.

Adam Bowhay, 34, was spotted by a member of the public on Billilingra Road, south of Bredbo, about 11.30am today (Thursday 28 February 2013).

Police from Monaro Local Area Command were alerted to Bowhay’s whereabouts and quickly attended the scene.

Bowhay was arrested without incident and is now being taken to Cooma Police Station.

It’s expected he’ll be charged later today.

Bowhay, who was sentenced to 23 years’ jail for murder in 1997, allegedly fled while on a work release program on Tuesday afternoon (26 February 2013).

Police have thanked the media and public for their assistance in this matter.
