A few years ago, when researching some high schools, a large private northside school had information about their ‘stationary requirements’. No, my child didn’t go there!
Wasn’t about parking, was it?
The BSSS have now corrected the errant apostrophe, well done to them for their very quick reponse.

You mean its not 125g?
I haven’t don’t maths since year 10 but I didn’t think it could be 125g, because there’s no way 10g is 12% of 125.
10 grams is 12.5% of 80 grams.
I guess its isnt then

This is what happens when greengrocer’s (ha ha) are employed to write test questions.
Someone once corrected someone’s daughter’s correct use of its to it’s at her previous school.
Someone buried someone under a rose bush…
My calculations puts “it is mass” at 80g.
10g gold ingot from the Perth Mint is over $500.
^^^ they even circled what was wrong!
and the answer is A….gold star please! (and none of that 12.5% gold sample either!)
wasn’t the red circle a giveaway? No possessive involved. Will no-one think of the children…..
They aren’t alone. Check the innovations in punctuation by our silicon overlords …
Ok. I’ve spent an hour trying to figure out what exactly was wrong with that question. Took a while to realise it wasn’t the maths.
They haven’t defined “impurities”. Since the subject of the sentence appears to be gold-bearing sediment, is gold the impurity? Or is there something else in the sediment? And what per cent does that other thing make up?
I know, right? As if anyone can believe a sediment sample contains 12.5% gold.
