ACT records 696 new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded 696 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8 pm yesterday, including 349 identified by PCR and 347 by rapid-antigen tests (RAT).

There are now 79 people in hospital, including one in intensive care.

Since the pandemic began, 139,894 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the ACT.

The double-dose vaccination rate for the ACT’s five-plus population remains 97.3 per cent, and 76.9 per cent of residents aged 16 and older have now received a booster.

Of ACT residents aged five to 11, 68.4 per cent have received two doses of vaccine.

Interstate, NSW has reported 22 deaths overnight and 6,254 new cases of COVID-19.

Victoria has reported 23 deaths overnight and an additional 6,224 cases of COVID-19.
