Police say two men allegedly assaulted a third in northern Canberra, leaving their alleged victim unconscious.

Last week, an ACT Policing spokesperson said they had received reports of an assault at a residence on Everist Street in Taylor on the afternoon of 19 January.

It is alleged a man was approached by two males before he was knocked unconscious. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital.

This weekend, 19-year-old Harley James Bell was arrested over his alleged role in the incident.

He faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday (2 February) where he was charged with single counts of assault by joint commission and damaging property, as well as two counts of affray.

The court heard he was accused of damaging a car.

His lawyer, Manon McPherson of the Aboriginal Legal Service, said he would not apply for bail, but would make a bail application in the future.

Magistrate James Lawton remanded Mr Bell in custody and listed a bail application for Friday (6 February). No pleas were entered.

Mr Bell waved at several people sitting in the courtroom’s gallery while he was being led out of the room and told them, “Love you”.

Meanwhile, police said they were still seeking information about the second man alleged to be involved in the incident.
