My Blue Ray, she no play.
Would appreciate recommendations for a repair person, preferably one based in either the Woden or Weston Creek area.
Thanks.

Thanks for the advice, all. It’s not totally kaput, just not reading the discs properly. I’ll try the metho and cotton bud solution, and if that doesn’t work – euthanise it.
Depending on what’s wrong with it it might just need a clean. Is it kaput or is it just not reading the discs? If so, before you hoik it into the bin, open it up, find the lens that reads the disc, (under a plastic cover that can be popped up usually) and give it a clean with a cotton bud and metho.
Just got a DVD player resurrected that way, might work for BluRay. You got nothing to lose.
What they said. Players are pretty much disposable devices these days – planned obsolescence and all that. 🙁
Yeah, unless the player has some unique capability that can’t be replicated on new devices, it’s not worth your while. The book in fee alone would be as much as some new blu-ray players cost new.
JB HiFi has 20% off Blu-Ray players this weekend, so that’s probably your best bet.
Not trying to be a smart arse here, but http://www.jbhifi.com.au / http://www.thegoodguys.com.au are probably your best bets, unless you’ve got some top of the line player that cost a fortune. Brand new players start well under $100,and are likely to be a lot cheaper than a repair, even if you can find someone who can do it.
