Hi all.
I am driving from Canberra to Dubbo in the September school holidays with 1 x 13yo boy.
Any suggestions for what to do / see on the way that a teen boy may like?
Thanks!

The holographic presentation at the Cowra Visitors Centre. My kids sat through it twice.
The Southern District rodeo circuit starts up in September and if you get in touch with the Queanbeyan rodeo committee they can fill you in on the details. Teenage boys usually like rough riding and people putting themselves at risk.
Also, September is Country Show time through that part of the world, so you could have a look and see if the show is on in any of the town’s you’re passing through.
Cowra has really awesome Japanese gardens if he’d be into that? I was always fascinated by the giant coy pond as a kid. There’s a lot of good wartime tourist stuff in Cowra due to the POW camp that was there. The tourist information centre near Macca’s is the best starting point.
The Wellington caves and phosphate mine are great too. Really amazing. Probably the best option as far as his age goes.
If you’re into strange junk shops there’s a great one in Molong on the highway as you leave town towards Wellington – the front yard has large junk sculptures; you can’t miss it. We always just called it Benny’s after the owner, probably has a different name.
This is all contingent on which route you take; we always go Boorowa, Cowra, Canowindra, Cudal, Molong, Wellington, Dubbo. But that’s dictated by family who live along the way.
Teenage boys love Mt Panorama at Bathurst. It is not that far out of the way, a lap is free if you obey the speed limits and there is the museum if you want to hang out a bit.
