Australian Hotels Association held its award ceremony in Canberra and dished out several of its awards to local businesses.
Well done.
Held in the nation’s capital for the first time, the AHA National Awards for Excellence involved more than 450 hotel industry leaders, supporters, special guests and parliamentarians for the annual Awards event at Hotel Realm to celebrate all aspects of Australia’s vibrant hotel sector.
Host venue Hotel Realm triumphed in two national 2013 Awards including Best Marketed Hotel ( Accommodation Division ) and Best Meeting and Events Venue – which the popular hotel won in 2012 – while several other Canberra venues and employees took home prestigious national awards including East Hotel, Sage Dining Rooms and Dixie Addison-Rolfe from the Diamant Hotel . AHA ACT General Manager Brad Watts congratulated all ACT National Award winners, who outclassed their State and Territory counterparts.
“It was also a memorable night for the home-town venues and employees with five winners coming from Canberra – which is more than double the amount compared with last year’s awards,” Mr Watts said.
“The success of these hotels and venues is a tribute to the outstanding quality, services, amenities and food and beverages available.”
Mr Watts said this impressive result was welcome after Canberra’s accommodation hotel and hospitality industry has been hurting from the prolonged economic downturn in the lead-up to the Federal election delay.
“The coveted National Awards have certainly put a well-deserved smile on the faces of many AHA ACT members,” Mr Watts said.
