About Jodie O'Sullivan

Jodie O’Sullivan has been a journalist and editor for more than 30 years. Growing up on a small property on the NSW-Victorian border near Albury, she studied at the University of Canberra and graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism a lifetime ago.

Beginning her career covering the three Cs - court, council and cropping - at Dubbo’s daily newspaper, Jodie ventured overseas to travel for several years. By sheer chance, she landed her dream job with a high-profile London publishing company and, if not for the long, dark British winters, would still be there.

Returning to sunny Australia and her former newspaper, she became one of the youngest female editors at Rural Press, before the call of home beckoned. Jodie then worked as a sub-editor, features editor and then senior writer for the Border Mail for more than 19 years. She lives on a 32-acre property at Jindera, NSW with her two young daughters and a menagerie of animals, including far too many Irish Wolfhounds and dressage horses.

Leading the Border Mail’s two-time Walkley award-winning campaign for Ending the Suicide Silence and successfully lobbying for a headspace facility for the local community, Jodie’s passion is powerful story-telling that captures the human element.
