I grew up in Canberra, and remember walking to Curtin South primary school when there was snow on the ground (this would have been in the late 1960’s.

It didn’t say blizzards in Canberra, it said blizzards in the ACT. There is a difference, and a key one at that when you consider that most of the ACT outside of Canberra is in the mountains where snow is common.

It looks like BOM has downgraded the forecast a bit for here and in the snowies 🙁

Weatherzone at 3.30 didna see doom and gloom. ” ACT for Monday Cloudy. Light rain tending to isolated showers later. Winds NW averaging 25 to 40 km/h. Rainfall: 1 to 8 mm Around Canberra.”. They did mention hairy conditions up in the snowies, but who cares.

It is the next front – and more specifically the associated ridge – to which the warning refers.
I just hope it holds off until after touch tonight…

With all the technology that the BOM has, one would think they could get it right more often.
Maybe they are too focused on delivering specified climate change outcomes, a consequenece of which are wind farms (factories?)

Apparently, BOM has the software to rectify this but hasn’t done so yet, so if one studies the radar regularly there is a false impression that it is raining almost 24/7 near Gunning.
Imagine what it will be like when these wind factory monstrosities are everywhere.
