Foxsport has the tale of a squeaking 17-16 win for the Brumbies over the Wellington Hurricanes.
Henry Speight is finally showing some signs of finding his feet, but Toomua’s kicking is a worry.

What a crowd to witness it. Rugby alive and well in Canberra.
I sense sarcasm. What was the actual figure?
12,300. lowest since 2000
From what I’ve been told, you will never get a crowd below 11 or 12,000.
Something to do with contractual obligations to Canberra Stadium & the caterers etc.
A crowd below 11 or 12,000 means paying a penalty.Am I missing something here?. What happens if less than 11000 people decide to go to a game? Do Brumbies management kidnap local residents and deposit them at the stadium to make up the numbers? Bus people in from interstate?
Crowd numbers may be “embellished”, or I guess they count legs!

The forwards were great, especially Peter Kimmlin who played his heart out.
The backs played as if they had only met that night.( Speight played very well)
There was no leadership whatsoever.
Why not put down another scrum, after getting a scrum penalty, when you are demolishing them?
Why kick for touch when you are losing 1/2 your own lineout throws?
2 chargedowns? Poor option taking all night.
Well done Brumbies forwards, you wiped the canes forawards off the park, you deserve the win, the backs, well, they didn’t do much except box kicks and miss penalties/conversions. There was no structure in the backs at all, no support by them in any mauls/rucks.
Crowd, very disappointing, but when you charge $33 an adult and $12 a child for general admission, and then the way over the top prices for drinks, food etc, what do you expect. Lower your prices Canberra Stadium and more people will come. Raiders games not much better ($28 adult and $12 child).
That’s what happens when the management keeps sacking the staff. It’s time for the managers, particularly Fagan, to take a good, hard look at themsleves. It’s not a pretty picture.

Why does every Polynesian look up immediately after scoring? It’s like they suddenly remember they’ve left their washing on the line.
