In the spirit of general revolt sweeping across this benighted Territory, a RiotACT field operative reports that the bus drivers are taking the middle of the day off tomorrow.
From 10am until 2pm tomorrow it’s private transport only folks.

You certainly are a bitter man. I saw an old woman sitting at a bus stop on Melbourne Avenue. She has been waiting for quite some time for a bus. I told her that the buses will resume at 2pm. Typical that people are only looking after themselves and stuffed those who have no other means, in her case, to go shopping in Woden
Nah, they’re too busy damaging the buses to care.
(sorry very cynical tonight)
What about students ? Students need to catch buses – are they bludgers or drains on society ?
I saw a bike on the front of a bus hooning down College St just the other day.
Let them strike at those times. The only ones affected would be the bludgers and drains on society – you know, unemployed, aged, so on.
The workers would already be at work.
I believe the bike racks are for the interchange-to-interchange runs only at this stage. It’s a stop work meeting, I heard an info ad on MIX this arvo. Thumper I think you are on the money about the general disgruntlement.
Couldn’t be, BT. Recumbents won’t fit on their silly racks. Or in their bike lockers, I believe.
From what I’ve heard on the radio it’s not a bus strike. It’s a bus driver’s meeting. It’s also happened before – I used to catch buses about three years ago and I remember them happening then. I’m fairly certain they have them once or twice a year and the buses don’t run so that every driver is able to attend.
i saw one being used on the weekend by the manliest looking crossdresser ive seen for years.
unless there was a goth gig on in civic.
hard to tell…
Dunno about the natives Thumper but I’m getting restless with all these tossers walking out on the job – today it’s the teachers, tomorrow it’s the Drivers. I’m getting hacked off with them all – especially the whining teachers – or more to the point their Union leaders.
I have seen the bike stand on a bus used – once.
It was probably a recumbent cyclist showing off.
actually for all that I maintain they’re an expensive way to achieve very little, I have seen a few in use.
Does this mean SGS will be stranded at his favourite coffee shop ?
Will he miss his hot date with ‘nastykindagal’ ?
When the buses don’t turn up on time or at all, will anybody notice, or will they just assume it’s an ordinary weekday?
