Lex Luthor Lasry QC has changed his stance on how much NSW was to blame for the 2003 fire.
But the NSW Opposition reckons Iemma’s still got a dilemma and may have to pay compo.

The last minute reversal by Lex Lasry was unbelieveable.
What rot to say there was no proof NSW could have stopped the Macintyre’s Hut fire.
I happen to know that the closest resident to Macintyre’s Hut called the NSW Fire Brigade more than 30 times to try and get them to attend to that fire.
When they belatedly arrived they used his dam for days to suck water for helicopters fighting fires elsewhere and then left his house to burn to the ground. Great prioritising guys.
And again, as a tour operator in the region I had daily emails about the fires for about a week prior to the day it hit Canberra. ACT Govt sent these to interested parties telling which roads and parts of the park were closed. And this was when the fire was still in NSW.
What rubbish that ACT didn’t know the fire was coming! What rot NSW couldn’t do anything about it.
Erratum: I said "generated near 100 GWH" when the correct figure is in TWH, a thousand times more. View
