Pegasus Riding for the Disabled ACT is a not-for-profit community organisation provides equestrian activities for people with disabilities in the Canberra Region for more than 40 years.
Benefits for participants of Pegasus programs range from horse riding being a fun and non-evasive social and therapeutic activity, to providing therapies that help to improve co-ordination, balance, muscle development and fitness for people with disabilities.
Participation boosts personal confidence, self-esteem, communication skills, leadership and trust. Parents, carers or caregivers also benefit from obtaining an hour or two a week of respite and are able to watch their children and/ or dependents develop and gain confidence in their abilities.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, Pegasus continues to serve the ACT and local NSW regions, supported by volunteers and community engagement.
