Now that the colder weather is setting in it’s time to start think about ways to stay warm while still making a statement. Autumn is a great time for light layers, long sleeves and experimenting with thicker fabrics. So for today’s op shop outfit, we’ll be tackling a tricky trend: Double denim!

Denim shirt – $7 Salvos Belconnen
Boyfriend jeans – $9 Salvos Jamison
Heels – $5 Fash N Treasure
Clutch – $5 Salvos Jamison
This denim shirt is well-cut and versatile (for another take, check out this brunch outfit). You can throw it on as as a kind of light jacket over a t-shirt or tank top, buttoned up as you see here, or tied around your waist to add extra interest to a boring outfit. If you tuck it in as we have here, you’ll give your look a little more structure and edge.

For our jeans we’ve gone for a boyfriend cut in a light wash, perfect for keeping comfy while running around (no super-tight waistbands here!). Roll the hems up for a casual look which puts the focus on your cool shoes.

When wearing boyfriend jeans it can be a good idea to wear heels to add contrast to the casual vibe. Mules are a trendy style that have come back into fashion, which means you can find them super cheap in op shops. I found these ones at Fash N Treasure for only $5! The sky high platform and heels elongate your legs, while the neutral tan colour means they’ll go with practically any outfit.
For a bag we’ve gone for this minimal clutch – the perfect way to add a bit of polish to the outfit and show the world that you mean business! Keeping the clutch and heels in the same colour family also ensures the look is cohesive.

In total our “Canadian Tuxedo” has come in at just $26 – bargain central!
Would you wear double denim? Have you uncovered any good finds in Canberra’s op shops recently?
