Does anyone know where I could buy cleaned Canberra red bricks?
We are looking for between three and four thousand.
Some idea of price would also be good, Thanks.

Hey Chow,
One of my mates dad built a house down in Nowra, it was actually made from mud bricks and had a real character to it. Apparently they are pest and fire resistant etc.
The mob actually comes to your place and uses the soil and mixes it with lime or some thing to get the bricks done. The mob which my mates dad had used was http://www.mogomudbricks.com.au who is actually based in Canberra.
If you are looking for three and four thousands bricks, I would assume that mud bricks would probably be more economical as well.
My 2 cents.
Late last year we purchased 2000 cleaned Canberra reds from Ritchies Bricks in Watson. From memory the bricks were about $1.10 each. Delivery extra.
We were happy with the quality. Some of the bricks were stamped “Canberra” which adds that little bit of character, if you like that sort of thing.
Hmmm, three or four thousand sounds like rather a lot of second had bricks. I assume someone deals in them though.
I have a couple of hundred in the back yard, but have plans for them.
Good luck! I had been looking for 20 bricks total – and several sources (including brick yards) recommended the Mugga Lane recycling place. I might have just turned up on the wrong day or whatever but their supplies were extremely poor, not worth the trip.
