Hey guys, I was interested in catering for around 75 people in a few weeks.
Just cocktail food that can be delivered to our house hot and cold for around $250.
Is this feasible for the price or are we better off just doing something ourselves?

Hi winter,
To be honest $ 3.00 to $ 4.00 per person is quite unrealistic !
We have used http://www.edgecatering.com.au in the past where they have customised the orders to suit our requirements. The food was great as well.
My 2 cents.

Have a look at the Costco platter service, with your limited bucks it might provide the best bang.
+1 for this. Go and pick them up yourself, it will be vastly cheaper than getting on-site catering.
Another +1 for Costco.

Get all cooking utensils and material for serving organised days beforehand, cost food products a week beforehand for a do it yourself cheap skate cocktail menu No1.
Make up a checklist of things to buy & your timeline. Inform guests it is just cocktail food and not dinner.
Make your own potatoes wedgies from 10kg pack, cut and store under water the day, or morning before. Dry wedgies then drizzle with oil and cook in oven, in baking trays, until you can pierce them. Do batches of three trays at a time and then transfer to another container. Once cooked, two hours before guests due, turn oven down to 60oC to keep them hot. Serve a third on platters with salt & vinegar. Make bowls, on platter with sweet chilli & gravy for the rest.
Get 5kg of little boys’ frankfurts; simmer in water until cooked and not cracked. Turn heat down to just keep at 60oC. Try to portion control, on small platters with tomato sauce bowls.
Crackers & dips, chips, peanuts & dried fruit melange spread around on plates. Diced Cheese & dried meats and tinned smoked mussels on platter with toothpicks.
Do not forget napkins. Real friends will help you clean up
I think I’ve got something else happening on that day. 5kg of frankfurt and sauce does sound tempting though!

You won’t find a catering company to service 75 people for less than $250. That’s only allowing for $3.33 per head.
I suggest heading to Costco and stocking up on some platters and frozen goodies to bake.
Otherwise try Hudson Catering or Swirl Catering. However you’re looking at around $15-$20 per person.
Kindle cafe is my favourite caterer at the moment but they mostly serve lunches

I doubt you can get anything that cheap for 75 people. I would recommend either u8one2 or City Edge catering. I’ve used both before and been very happy with the service and the food.
