A 32-year-old Chisholm man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after he allegedly contacted a woman hundreds of times within two weeks.
The woman, who resides in Queensland and does not know the alleged offender, began receiving text messages on June 7 from the man, who would text or call her up to 30 times a day.
ACT Policing Criminal Investigations Detectives executed a search warrant on the home of the man about 7pm last night (Tuesday, June 21), seizing a number of mobile phones.
The man was located by police about 8.20pm in Kambah and arrested. He has been charged with Stalking and Use a carriage service to menace or harass and will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning where police will be opposing bail.
Police would urge anyone who is or has been receiving repeated unwanted phone calls or text messages to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
