Does anyone know of local organisations taking food donations for Christmas?
Libraries ACT used to have a food for fines program that ran in the lead up to Christmas, but it looks like that isn’t going ahead this year.
Any suggestions?

If anyone in Weston Creek is interested in donating some food, I noticed a drop-off bin at Cooleman Court today for Communities at Work – just inside the entrance near Woolworths.
YWCA Canberra Lanyon Food Hub is accepting food donations if you are in Tuggeranong. They are on Sidney Nolan Street in Condor. They accept food donations all year round. The food hub does fantastic work feeding families every week, but like to give a little extra at Christmas.
I also hear that St John’s Care Reid is short of food at the moment and has a high level of requests for support. Cnr Constitution Ave and Anzac Park West
Supabarn in Wanniassa usually has a food drive, might be worth contacting them.
UnitingCare Kippax would be *delighted* to receive any food donations. They will be supporting over 2000 people in the next 10 days. Just opposite the Kippax Library, and Kippax Fair
Great question. Food for fines was a great idea. Shame Libraries ACT is not doing this again.
I’ve had no trouble finding drop-off points for Christmas food in shopping centres in previous years but haven’t seen any this year. I’ve emailed a couple of local organisations offering some decent-quality food and have had no response.
Anyone know where I can drop off some Christmas treats so they get to the right people?
