@ swaggie – no mate – you’re way off the mark there (and sound quite missinformed) – I took the photos (I’m PeterG) and I know for a fact that everyone at the ceremony was local (the lady in the blue in the photos was my friend whom is now a very happy local Canadian-Australian… Each person was selected after putting in applications – they were required to support why they wanted to become a citizen on Australia Day and agree to talk about their experiences in becoming an Aussie citizen…
There’s something a bit iffy about the local citizenship ceremony that day – any one local was told “No chance” and had to do with the local washed up Pollies – Messrs Porter and Burch – in a room at the Multicultural Centre a few weeks ago. Apparently these new citizens were hand picked to appear up at federal level – any one know the full story?
