Well the City Walk Expo markets did indeed materialise. We can expect to see them every weekend.
It was raining when I walked past, how did other people find them?

It wasn’t on today for some reason?
Civic was dead as a doornail. Mostly empty shops or banks etc all around the merrigoround these days.
Window shopping is a non-event.Funny how the growth of units etc has not done much to liven up the city centre at all.
With a variety of Stalls and entertainment this Saturday, lets hope that Civic is a happening place!

City Walk Expo will take place each Saturday in December leading up to Christmas. With a variety of stall holders, entertainment and street performers booked for the 4th, 11th & 18th. Come and check it out for yourself all day parking available off London Circuit.
Fyshwick markets, Hall markets, and we now have Civic markets. Good luck finding stall holders to fill it. That, or the price of glitter and googley eyes will go through the roof.
Probably need some time and a few days of sunshine to work out how it develops. They made a decent effort to have some entertainment and I think the location is great. It will need some critical mass though which may be diluted having it every week.
Went for a wander through the markets.. there was lucky to have been 50 stalls.
Spoke to a few stall holders I am familiar with from other markets. Most said despite the weather they may not return again and definitely could not see themselves doing it every weekend.
IMO it should be on a Friday afternoon/evening !
So the weather wasn’t that great but the 100+ stalls was close to just 40 most of which were jewelery that are on wait lists for other markets, from a customer’s point of view the hours were great but for a stall holder they are very long, site’s are too small for %80 of stall holders who normally get a 3X3mtrs site, the fact that’s it’s on weekly will just kill it’s self, people of canberra get bored very easily. But hey good luck
