UPDATED 9:40 am: Emergency Services has reported that the accident on Adelaide Avenue has now been cleared.
Citybound traffic has banked up on Adelaide Avenue after a four-car pileup at around 9:00 am this morning (16 April).
Paramedics are assessing patients on scene and the ESA has reported that three of the four city-bound lanes are closed.
Emergency services are asking Canberrans to avoid the area as crews will remain on the scene for some time to help clear the incident.
