Is Corin Forest Closed?
Both their own website and the ACT Govt’s “Visit Canberra” page state it should be open from 10-4 public holidays, but we drove out there for the first time yesterday and it was closed.
I feel I missed something…

Yep, that’s when it went from a submitted article to something posted to the site, not when I submitted it.

Ok well if you did post this on the 29th then something is seriously wrong.
I was there with a few friends from 2pm til 4pm Monday afternoon, .. certainly was open.
That’s bizarre, we were there about midday on Monday! Could see a Corin Forest painted car in the parking lot, but all gates were closed, not a soul to be seen other than the Kangaroos.

Although the drivers up there are shocking, .. on the way up, I come around a corner and an ACT plated red Laser/323 was practically stationary in the middle of the road, … and on the way back down some Green P platers decide to stop and attempt to reverse back up the road, unknowing that there was a car behind them
Have you been driving in Canberra long ? That’s normal behaviour

They can be a bit hit and miss out there sometimes. Bit of a shame really, I reckon the place has a lot of potential that a bit of investment could really bring out. If they had a decent cafe ( with kangaroo on the menu) and added a few more amenities they might be able to make something of the place. A bit marketing or even a minor website update could do wonders. Put in a few more picnic tables with a reservation and minor fee system (say $10 per table per hour) and a playground. The bobsled is good fun already and not too bad value. Prices seem to have stayed the same for about 10 years. Me and the 6 year old can go ride the sleds for an hour or more for about $50 which isn’t too bad when you compare it to other rides.

Did you miss the fact that yesterday was not a public holiday??
No, but you missed the fact I submitted the story on Tuesday 29th Jan.

Corin Forest is a bit tired now. It was a good place to go with kids to play in the snow in winter, except now the road seems to get closed as soon as we get some white stuff falling.
Zip lines are no more, and the swimming slide looked a bit naff when i went in Spring, not sure if that’s open now.
The toboggan run thing was fantastic though. Even the crazy old fella who runs it.

That shouldn’t matter, because according to their website they’re also open daily during ACT school holidays. Not sure I’d trust anything on their site though…it doesn’t seem to have been updated in a very long time. Does anyone know if their ziplines are actually still closed after the 2003 fires, like the site says?
