Crace tool heist

ACT Policing is investigating a burglary in Crace on Wednesday evening (September 21) which involved the theft of $25,000 worth of tools.

The burglary is believed to have occurred between 5.30pm on Wednesday afternoon (September 21) and 6am Thursday morning (September 22) at a building site on Baratta Street in Crace.

A number of tools valued at nearly $25,000 were taken after the offenders gained entry to a shipping container by cutting the padlock. The tools stolen included a Hitachi jack hammer, Husqvarna chainsaw, Gentec generator and a pressure washer.

Superintendent Brett Kidner said the public’s assistance is valuable when solving crimes such as this.

“Police often rely on the community’s support in solving crimes such as this. I would urge members of the public that if they see any suspicious behaviour around constructions site, particularly after hours, they should contact police immediately,” he said.
