Dads with bubs

I go to a playgroup in Turner which loads of dads come along to. It’s multilingual though so may not be what you’re after. Go to the ACT PlayGroups web page and they have a download available of all the play groups in Canberra, including whether there is a waiting list to join. Before handing over any monies just attend a couple and see what you think.

I’m always happily surprised when dads turn up with their children. There are so many mothers’/Kids’ groups filled with hyperventilating mothers, a father friendly group would probably be welcome (I imagine).

There used to be about 4 dads at Hackett thursday playgroup – things may have changed.

You could also ring playgroups australia and ask for the playgroup nearest to you with a male facilitator.

Dads dont get to play around with other dads until the kids hit preschool (or kindy). Then you get to be friends with the parents of your child’s friends. I’ve found my kids have made good choices!

Monkeymania is a great place to meet others dads/parents..

Although i havent formed any long term friendships, it would be uncommon to not start a conversation with a dad/parents sitting near by.

I tried something similar to Gooterz’s suggestion a while back and was called a creep and even had someone suggest my daughter wasn’t mine, alluding ot me being a fiddler. Sepi, I’m up north and haven’t found a single father at any groups.

Being a dad in public is a tough gig.

Most playgroups these days have a handful of dads. good luck with it.

Tried going to a park? Met a few parents there. Not many dad’s about though
