CityNews has word that the new buyers of Darrell Lea have no desire to run a retail operation.
So the Canberra Centre store is closing as well as the ones already gone.
This Sunday is the last day.

Great memories of Darrel Lea. My mum used to work in the old store in Belco – remember back when it still had 32 ice cream flavours (or whatever it was), and they’d make you a pavlova to order while you waited? Can you imagine what it was like for a 7-8 year old kid to have a mum that worked at a lolly shop? Oh man… good times!
Gonna have to go and stock up on Caramel Snows and Almond Nougat bars.
So they did have the Darrell Lea ice cream here in Canberra!! I had always wondered. When i was a little girl, my dad would take me to the Burwood shopping center and buy me a bubble gum ice cream from Darrell Lea. It was wonderful ice cream if i remember correctly, but when we moved to Canberra when i was 10 i never seen a Darrell Lee with the ice cream stand. Granted i moved to the south side so you can imagine how baron it was in the early 90s haha

Seems smart,
My guess they’ll probably sell to places like Myer so times like fathers day they’ll get more room for their displays, where the rest of the year they wont really exist.
One can only hope that haighs open a store.
Bought out by a pet food company. Ironic. Dogs can’t even eat chocolate.
What about the folk who have apple liquorice addictions- who is going to look after them?
I haven’t been to one for years, but I remember how special they seemed to me as a child. Used to dream of Darrell Lea, from paper bag in’t middle of road. And before everyone says that we have access to better chocolate now (which we do) remember that you can now also buy Oreo flavored shakes, should you so desire. So it’s not all for the better.
