Backyard Backanalia
Since October 2005 the Backyard Backanalia has been providing a monthly showcase of local music and other performing arts at a secret location in a back yard near you.
With the colder weather upon us, the Backanalia goes into recess until the next season starts in October, but not before having one last fling in the rather more upmarket surrounds of the Australian Choreographic Centre’s Theatre at the Gorman House Arts Centre.
Touted as ‘The Best of the Backyard Backanalia’, this event also forms the finale concert of Inclusion ’07, an all-day festival that commences with a performance by The Cashews at 9.30am and continues with talks, theatre performances, poetry recitals and workshops (dance/life drawing/voice) until the BBB at 7pm. It’s $15/25 for the morning session and $5 for the afternoon ‘Come and Try’ (for details contact Jeff on 62577088 or jthompson@cpainc.com.au).
The Acts:
This Backanalia features the best (as voted by the audience) of the acts appearing at the BB over the last two years: Julia Johnson (solo), Hashemoto, Australian Kingswood Factory, Sanjiva de Silva, The Cyclone Rangers, The Cashews, Fire on the Hill and Dahahoo (and possibly more).
As usual, drinks and food will be provided at very reasonable prices from Bar Quebequois. In addition, the good folks from Lark Hill Winery (Bungendore) will be setting up a table and purveying their fine, biodynamically grown, wine wares. Entry to the Backanalia costs $10 or $5 for concessions and early birds (pre-7pm).
