It’s promising to be a wet and wild weekend!
What’s worth braving the weather for out and about during these days of rest?
Just leave your thoughts in the comments.

In regards to the charity day being held at the Belconnen Bowling Club for Dylan Cook today (as above)-
If you don’t wish to participate in the bowling program you can just come and show your support by having a sausage sizzle and enjoying the fun activities for the kids with a jumping castle/facepainting etc.
Thank you kindly if you wish to show support.

Interesting how the War Memorial always gives its address as “Treloar Crescent” when you’d naturally think they’d give it as 1 Anzac Parade. Reminds me of the original location of the ACT Legislative Assembly when they always used to give the address as “1 Constitution Ave” when in fact they were more accurately located in Nangari St.

Charity Day at the Belconnen Bowling Club for Dylan Cook. (my neighbour and my son’s best friend)
At the age of 4 Dylan Cook was diagnosed with an inoperable Brain Stem Giloma (tumour). During november 2008 Dylan underwent radiation treatment at the Sydney Children’s Hospital. In March 2009 Dr Charlie Teo advised that no one in the world would operate on Dylan at that time.
Dylan’s family have turned to Alternative treatments in a bid to find an answer to this terrible disease. These treatments have improved Dylan’s condition and his quality of life. But without extra financial help, they would not be able to continue on his path.
– Dylan’s mother, Melinda and ACT medical herbalist, Irene Hess-Oates will be available from 10am to 4pm to discuss the treatments that have seen Dylan make a quantum leap forward in his health.
– Cake stall with nutritious muffins – slices and cakes – all gluten free and low GI.
– Foot massage with essential oils.

This one tickled my fancy on facebook for Friday night (24 July).
… wondered what JANE is ADDICTED to?
… speculated whether people in eastern BLOC countries ever PARTY?
… wondered just where it could be that AUGIE is MARCHing to?
… questioned the practicality of a HILLTOP wearing a HOOD?
… asked how a SPOON could be GRINning?
…or feared that if your LIPS are FLAMING it could be an early symptom of an undetected STI?
Well, we bet the wankers that got Splendour tickets didn’t. But don’t panic! Come on down to Transit Bar THIS FRIDAY and find the answers to these great mysteries at:
SPLENDOUR IN THE (transit) BAR.
==> Synthetic grass dancefloor! < == ==> Party lights better than Byron! < == ==> FREE ENTRY < == (Take that Splendour!) Driving 12 hours and sleeping in tents? That is SOoo last Splendour. *** Running 'tings at this almighty event will be Transit Bar's number one ring-ins, STRANGEWAYS DJs, showcasing their enthusiastic attitude and passable DJ skills. STRANGEWAYS DJs met in 1999 in a Ho Chi Minh massage parlour famous for its happy endings. After bonding over a shared passion for BRITNEY (bitch) and other indie icons, the trio travelled to Glastonbury, England. After paying their respects on this hallowed ground, they were suddenly thrust into the limelight after being mistaken for a group of famous electronic musicians at a nearby music festival. However, a canny punter soon realised the threesome were not KRAFTWERK when they slipped the 'Fresh Prince' theme into the end of 'Computer Love'. After spending time in Manchester's Strangeways prison for fraud, the traumatised trio emerged with a newfound resolve to conquer the music world and never forget the experiences that had made them men. Thus, STRANGEWAYS DJs were born. Since then, the STRANGEWAYS team has played alongside superstars like NEW ORDER, PRINCE, BOWIE, WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART and GARY NUMAN. STRANGEWAYS DJs have caused punters to strip down to their underwear, fight, mosh, and inspired a group of (what had to be underage) girls perform the macarena on stage. Expect the unexpected.
