ACT Policing is investigating a two vehicle collision yesterday afternoon (Monday, April 29) in Mawson.

Around 1.50pm ACT Policing Criminal Investigations were travelling north along Athllon Drive when they attempted a traffic stop on a blue Ford Telstar.

The driver failed to stop and police initiated a pursuit.

The offending vehicle fled police and drove through a red light at the intersection of Athllon Drive and Mawson Drive where it collided with another car.

The offending vehicle then fled the scene of the collision, travelling along Ainsworth Street where it lost its rear bumper.

It went through a second red light at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Ainsworth Street and the decision was made to terminate the pursuit.

The pursuit lasted for approximately two and a half minutes and reached a maximum speed of 120km/h.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, saw a blue Ford Telstar missing a rear bumper in the Mawson area or have any other information which could assist police investigators, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

I’ll ignore the idea of an offending vehicle – OK, I didn’t. But aren’t all Telstars offending?

I also have a lovely image in my head of the police looking for the car the bumper fits, like Prince Charming and Cinderella…
