A man will appear in court early next year, charged over alleged dangerous and negligent driving that left a young child dead.
Late on Tuesday (9 December), a NSW Police spokesperson said a 31-year-old ute driver has been charged over the crash, which occurred on 13 May.
Emergency services were called to Towamba Road, Nullica (about 10 kilometres southwest of Eden) at about 4:10 pm after an LDV dual-cab utility and a Kenworth tipper truck collided.
A six-year-old boy, who had been travelling in the ute, died at the scene of the crash.
The ute’s 31-year-old male driver and two other child passengers (aged two and eight) suffered multiple injuries.
The driver was airlifted to Canberra Hospital, while the two children were airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital.
The truck driver, aged 52, was taken to the South-East Regional Hospital at Bega for mandatory testing.
He was also treated for shock.
The crash scene has been examined by officers attached to the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit, who opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Following their inquiries, the 31-year-old has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of a motor vehicle.
He has been issued with a Court Attendance Notice and is scheduled to appear before Eden Local Court on 4 March 2026.
The 31-year-old’s license was also suspended.
