A 50-year-old man was arrested and charged last night with numerous offences after failing to cooperate with a police roadblock at the scene of a truck fire on the Monaro Highway.

Around 8:30 pm last night (30 May), police established a roadblock at the intersection of Lanyon Drive to divert traffic after a truck fire on the Monaro Highway.

Shortly after the roadblock was established, the driver of a white utility ignored police directions and proceeded through the roadblock, hitting one officer and driving towards the truck fire.

A short time later, the utility was stopped by police and a 50-year-old man was arrested and his vehicle was seized.

He was subsequently charged with driving while disqualified, driving under the influence of alcohol (.150) and failing to stop when directed by police.

He will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (31 May 2019).
