Electrical smell in Civic

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently on scene investigating an electrical smell in an office building on Marcus Clarke Street in the city.

Two fire pumpers, one breathing apparatus van and one commander currently on scene.

The building has been evacuated as a precaution whilst crews investigate the smell.

Update to follow.

9:51 AM

Fire crews have detected the cause of the electrical smell using thermal imaging equipment.

The cause of the smell was from an airconditioning motor.

A number people were safely evacuated now returning to the 11 floor office block.

No injuries reported.

Crews were alerted by an automatic fire alarm at 9:13am.
