Small-town New Mexico marshal Will Kane (Gary Cooper) is about to retire with his new bride (Grace Kelly) when he learns an old adversary is heading back to town looking for revenge.

Kane’s decision to face the threat, though no one in town will come to his aid, is an examination of moral determination that unfolds in real time.

‘Possibly the most Rorschachian film of all time, a symbol-only text that effortlessly conforms to any political present, and finds a foothold in your social sphere whether you’re a free radical or reactionary wing nut.’ – Village Voice
