Randle P McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) fakes insanity to escape a hard-labour prison sentence and transfer to a psychiatric hospital. With defiant charm, he leads his fellow inmates in rebellion against icy Nurse Ratched.

Winner of five Academy Awards, the film examines conformity, oppression and individual freedom with humour and pathos.
