Director Emerald Fennell subverts and reinvents the rape revenge genre in this searing debut feature. Carey Mulligan stars as Cassandra, once a ‘promising young woman’ whose life was thrown off course by a traumatic event. Cassandra’s effort to unmask the so-called ‘nice guys’ takes a menacing new turn when a blast from the past creates an opportunity for vengeance.

Promising Young Woman is a at once a thrilling, saturated revenge drama and a complex, confronting exploration of gender, dating and rape culture.

‘bracingly original…the final act is riveting’ – The Associated Press
