Jasper Jones (Rachel Perkins, 2017)

M | 105 Mins | 2017 | DCP | AUS | D: Rachel Perkins

Craig Silvey’s award-winning bestseller Jasper Jones masterfully interrogates youthful innocence, race, and violence in regional Australia. Set in 1969 in small-town Corrigan, the narrative follows adolescent Charlie, who is confronted by a young woman’s death and the stark reality that her boyfriend, Aboriginal teenager Jasper, is most likely to be blamed.

Directed by acclaimed Arrernte and Kalkadoon nations filmmaker Rachel Perkins, the film adaptation stars Australian greats Hugo Weaving and Toni Collette star alongside newcomers Levi Miller, Aaron McGrath, Kevin Long and Angourie Rice. A gripping coming-of-age mystery, Jasper Jones illuminates the deep fractures in a rural community as Charlie seeks to discover the truth.
