Fashion Police 1 - Suits and Sandals?

I’m waiting for the day trackie-dacks and thongs or old sneakers come back into fashion. I’m not a bogan – I’m a trend-setter.

Wear what you like I reckon, as long as it looks good on YOU.
No use following a fashion trend if it doesn’t suit your body type. And no point dressing a certain way just cause someone says you should if you feel or look stupid.

There are certain trends that leave me reeling in dismay, but they still suit some people really well so you can’t say the look itself is bad – just the wrong people are trying to do the look.

(I still say pink polo shirts with the collar up are out though… Although they do help us categorise people where required… but I guess they still ‘suit’ whomever wears them : P)

If memory serves me correct (and it often doesn’t), the term tanbark predates the term yuppie. 🙂

‘Tanbark’ is an abbreviation of the term ‘standard bark’; Pulpmill jargon, pimped uo for the yuppies to once again, not know what they are buying. but it does sound cool, so off they go. Basically, all the bits that the shredders and band saws knock off before going to work on the logs to create the yobbo bashing 4×2”s that we all love.

Sometimes there are outfits that look absolutely stupid with sandals, or pretty much shoes. Thongs often suit in these cases – depending on the thong.

Kind of like the girls who wear heels with shorts. That looks a bit silly – dress up your shorts with heels? What the? Probably should have gone the thongs.

I have been told that Crocs are not recommended for those hirstute of foot. As a chap whose feet would make Bilbo Baggins look like a foot model I have taken this advice on board and avoided them thus far.

Under protest I have acquired (was forced to buy) the Aussie version of Crocs, in stylish beige, and grudgingly have found them to be quite comfortable. They, like thongs, should never be seen in public, or even the common areas if you live in some sort of complex.

I have – they are now standard travelling to the coast footwear. My recommendation would be to get the genuine product, the other brands are made of inferior materials. I didn’t notice it until I had a few tanbark protrusions, which is quite yeowie.

Has anyone here actually tried on/owned a pair of crocs? I’m struggling to figure out how they are ‘so comfortable’, being quite ‘plastic’ looking. Reminds me of those horrid pink plastic sandal things that were around when I was a kid.

Maybe I’ll have to go try on a black pair…

I have to admit I haven’t seen the suit and thongs thing yet. Thongs are actaully worse for you healthwise than other types of footwear because of the amount of bacteria that stays and then lives on the rubbery base.

Just a question. Dress shoes, ie. including strappy shoes with a heel that you’d wear on a formal occasion are usually considered ‘business like’ if worn with pants. However what about women who can’t wear heels? I have back troubles after the second day of wearing heels, and I’m a small person….

Sandals are pretty much the same thing – minus the ‘dressy’ heel.

Why oh why must we have to suffer and damage our bodies for the sake of fashion! : P

Sorry for the poor grammar in my previous post, I tend to froth at the mouth and can’t type properly when on a rant.

Thongs belong exclusively to the domain of the beach or the backyard barbeque. They are NOT, I say again NOT, a fashionable even if they have funky flowers on them, or if your in Charnwood, a matching pair. Thongs should not be worn in public under any circumstances. They make the wearer shamble like a neolithic troglodyte and have the awesome power to make someone who might otherwise be attractive look like a tramp.

And to those wearing thongs in the rain or the middle of a Canberra winter – I hope you get Trench Foot or Frostbite…

Wow… I was only thinking this an hour ago as I drove to work. Who wears thongs in the rain, I ask you?

Sydney CBD is crawling with ‘suited’ ladies wearing rubber thongs to walk to work. Granted, they change into formal shoes when they get to work, but they deserve a fashion police ticket for wearing while flip-flops with a formal black dress-suit.

That’s cause we enjoy good feet ventilation and know how to avoid smelly sweaty feet. Unlike the smelly sweaty socks and shoes women in other cities… pongo!
