ACT Policing Criminal Investigations detectives will be seeking the extradition of two Melbourne men this morning (Monday, January 10) on a series of charges relating to threats and the extortion of cash from a Canberra woman.
It will be alleged that the two men, aged 27 and 24, travelled to Canberra and committed the offences on Thursday, January 6.
Enquiries revealed that the two men were en route to Melbourne. Detectives liaised with Victorian Police, who stopped the men on the outskirts of Melbourne on the Hume Highway around 11am Friday, January 7. The males were arrested and will face the Broadmeadows Local Court this morning for an extradition hearing.
If successful, the men will be extradited back to Canberra later today and charged with a series of offences, including forcible confinement, make demand with threat to endanger health, intentionally use a carriage service to menace or harass, theft, and one count of common assault.
