The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting on yesterday’s fire which hit Yarralumla destroying two houses.
ABC Online also have coverage here, The Canberra Times has it here and there’s a good photo on their monster online front page.

and what is wrong with the telegraph? at least it dosent crawl up lil johnnies arse like some so called “high brow ” table cloths i see on the news stand………………..albeit it WAS over kill on the news of a rather ordinary house fire.
Wrong, ancientfartiact,
Bernie was up north at the time, came back when a neighbour called him up with the bad news.
Hard pressed for news perhaps. Teeny weeny grass fire. The fact that it was the first story of the night on Ch9 news may be due to the fact that it was Yarralumla. Anyway. I heard that Steve Larkham and his mates were smoking bongs in the nearby bushland after some all night binge in Manuka. The police drove past and they all pannicked and ran, leaving the bong in the dry grass still smoking…
Fess up scrawn boy !
Is it any surpise? It is hard to find a suburb that doesn’t have a dried grass jungle somewhere. Good to see our dollars are getting spent well, perhaps the politicians can bicker between each other and complain about what a crap job they are both doing and not fix the problem – please, we have learnt nothing from the ’03 bush fires.
And before anyone says anyhing fire bugs can’t start a bushfire if there aint no bush!
No more bush, no more bush, no more bush!!
While losing the houses is sad, the CT Headline “Suburb Explodes!” is really over the top. This paper has really gone down hill and is now the hick town equivalent of the Daily Telegraph. The only good articles are feeds from other newspapers. If the people of this town are supposed to be so bright, why are we being served up such crap?
